If I am surf fishing I will sometimes use a deep pocket striping apron and pre-strip alot of line in a very particular arrangement for it to lay perfect. I will also do a double haul but on the final throw, I will unleash a little extra umph and let it remove the rest of the line from the apron.
This works best from the water while only half submerged. From the sand I can lay longer loops out and single flip the shrimp fly for the 90 to 100 foot range.
I use the same technique on certain streams when the is alot of overhead brush and I can single cast a sidearm flip with some of my 1/4- 3/8oz Clousers. It is a hard technique to develop but it came in handy to invent when I had my other arm in a cast for 6months and couldn't do any other type of fishing.[cool]
