Musky, pike and walleye seasons opened earlier this week around the Upper Peninsula. Reports are just starting to come in from Lake Gogebic, so it is a little early to gauge how walleye fishing is going on the lake.
In the Marquette area, the lake trout and salmon fishing is good on Lake Superior outside the harbors. Anglers are trolling with spoons.
Perch fishing is fair on Little Bay de Noc near Escanaba. Wigglers are the preferred bait, but minnows and worms are also being used. No reports are available on how the first few days of the walleye season have been on the bay.
Out of the Manistique area, the walleye fishing ranges from fair to good on the Manistique River.
By Sault Ste. Marie, the perch fishing is slowing on the upper end of the St. Marys River.
