I like circle hooks, but for sharks, your hook up rate goes way down. Plus, you really have to get a monster hook to use for big sharks, as the gap is much smaller in reference to the actual size hook. But, it would work to keep the gut hooking down. I tried circle hooks before for sharks, and I wasn't impressed. With that said, i'll give them another try. Maybe I just had an unlucky run with them.
The trick with circle hooks is to set the hook while the fish is moving away from you. Maybe i'll just have to be a little more patient. The problem is most of my shark fishing is done strait down under the boat. LOL
