2. Now you have a reason to show the general public. It is a "Kamloops" rainbow now! Not just the same finless trash that goes belly up when caught and has hardly any aggressive instinc left in them. Something different than what Bubba catches at the local community fishery. It is something to be respected and also something to look forward to catching and hanging on the wall when it does break 23".
3. The problem is this strain has not been tried in Utah in a place where it has potential to grow. Put 500 tagged fish in the berry that are Triploids. How much could that really cost when you think of all the money spend on the rainbows we have been feeding to the cutts for the past 10 years. Who knows maybe it will change the equasion on predatation there.
4. And just for the record I do fish Minersville and aplaud the DWR for trying something new on that reservoir. Now let's take that success to somewhere north. Jordanelle, Strawberry etc. I am not an anti-DWR, I just feel in all aspects of life us as Americans and government organizations especially are many times too easily satisfied, and too lazy to go out and try something instead of just talking and speculating all day.
Let's try it that is what I say. The DWR spends all this money Sponsering TV shows running commercials etc. trying to up fishing license sales. They don't understand that what makes people spend real money on fishing is something different than they can find at willow pond with the kids or at a local fish farm. I could make a list of over 50 people that would buy a license today if I told them I could take them out and catch large rainbows(from BC) over 23" and they could even take one of the larger ones home if they wanted. However right now all I have to tempt them with is Muskies on a lake covered with PWC and watercraft and even those are no longer being planted and will soon be gone.
