I'm wondering how do u know which lakes allows tubing. Who and how do u ask to get the right answers? I tried to ask the Illinois DNR about that but they don't seem to have much info in that area.
I sent an email to Dale Bowman of the Chicago SunTimes and radio show, here is his and my notes:

[blue]As you already know, Mazonia is the area's most favorite for belly boating.[/blue]
[blue]Be careful or doublecheck local regs on forest preserve lakes. For some reason, most counties seem to frown on it. So you're better off sticking with state sites or if you have access, private ponds and local ponds. I know one guy who does it in the Kankakee River, though I'm not sure that is something I would recommend to most people.[/blue]
[blue]If I get the time over the next couple days, I'll try to get some more specifics from the state.
