ceremony for renaming your boat

I am glad you brought this up, I was thinking about naming my little row boat... its two feet shy of having to be documented.

it hasnt a name that I am aware of... I have taken it out several times a couple years ago and I did well while fishing....

it is my understanding that boats of this size are usualy named after the mother ship. but since this floater dosnt have a mother ship, "yet, pending lotto winnings" what rulings are involved in nameing this water craft? Leagle and cerimonial if any...

I see in the federal regulations the only stipulations are that no lettering of any type is allowed near the front section of the boat other than state and documentation notifications and port of departure.

I find my self being in the state of michigan on inland waters having to deal with federal laws because of shared fishing and navigating waters shared with Canada...
