when I used to shock them I had a hard time keeping them much longer than a couple hours but the ones I'd picked with a flashlight or used chemicals lived for several days.
I know that frabill used to have some stuff called "worm up" that was really good. it was a tablet that you put in a bucket and then overflowed it with water until it was completely disolved and it would bring the worms up fast and furious.
