7/8s thickness’ is what I am bound to using, it is what I took out, that is what I have to have to put back in. permanent brackets call the shots in my boat.
I had the same concerns, that was why I went through a hundred boards to find three pieces that had enough area for seat that 99.99% perfect in no knots, no cracks no deformities that would lead to the break down of the lumber.
In the starcraft it has under framing made of metal. I am thinking of upgrading that framework with aluminum angle. I was thinking I could get a cabinet or two under one of the seats. Probably under the helmsman’s seat this way I can have the emergency kit flairs and whatnots close at hand. I wouldn’t mind some entertainment and marine radio just incase I get out to far for the cell phone.

I didn’t do any work today, too much wind and a smigent nippy with the snow blowing. (To worm for ice fishing clothes and to cold with out)

I did take a couple photos to show at what stage I am at today.

All this not so friendly boat working weather did give me time to give considerations to where and how I want to mount everything.

I will now have to take time to make up blue prints so I don’t forget when I go to put it all back together.
