Thanks again for the invite. Went up with my dad from Wyoming and my buddy from across the street and had a great time my first and only trip on the ice this winter. Was doing a lot of mad talking on the way up but had a hard time backing it up this trip. Normally when I go with my dad or fishing buddy I school them. Dave caught the first fish and dad the second one. Both of them had at least 3 on the ice before I got started. Blamed it on the gas on my hands. Took the hand sanitizer and tried it and nothing. Used some Berkley scent still nothing. Finally took 3 or 4 salmon eggs and crushed them and rubbed them into my fingers and then the bite was on. I ended up catching 9, Dave caught 9 and dad caught 5. I got the 2 biggest of the day at 16 and 16.5 inches. I couldn't believe how these fish fought, I have caught 20+ inch rainbows with less fight. We ended up keeping 12 fish 10.5-16.5 inches for the smoker. Had a great time and will definitely have to hit it next winter. Tried pieces of red side minnows, night crawlers, wax worms and spikes. I got all of mine on either moon glow jigs tipped with waxies or fat boys tipped with spikes or waxies. Dad got his on a plain hook with a night crawler or a gitzit tipped with waxies. Dave caught his on a plain hook or a pink moon glow jig tipped with crawler. Had a ton of fish showing up on the finder but only 1 out of about 10 would bite. I picked up 4 in the last 15-20 minutes we were able to fish. Great times had by all.
