Applying for an IGFA record is tricky business. You really have to have your ducks in a row. These are some things you need to do before you attempt it:

1. Find a tackle store with an IGFA certified scale
2. Pre determine the location and contact info of a willing Marine Biologist to examine the fish.
3. Pre determine the location of a notary
4. Have the IGFA send you rule packet along with an entry form

You may find that a local marina has already been through this before and has all those tools at thier desposal. But know that the IGFA is very detailed and you really need to make sure it's right.
