what size tackle do i need?

I am re-locating down to myrtle beach in the beginning of April, and I will be spending a lot of time on the piers down there. I am pretty unexperienced in the salt water though and I need some tackle info. I have fished all of the smaller species off the piers before but this will be my first year fishing for king mackeral and tarpon. I was wondering how much and what strength line I will need for these fish? And if anyone has a favorite pier in or around myrtle beach let me know.
