Yea, it's not bad to tie, but the surgeons loop just seems a little easier, especially with a light test braid or something like that.
Now, when I tie fluorocarbon on a clark spoon for spanish or something like that, i'll use a perfection loop because of how small it is. LOL, I guess i'm just "knot challenged." I hate tieing a perfection loop. [
] I also feel like i've got more "control" of the loop size with a surgeons loop as well. Alot of times i'll make a really big loop, like 6 inches long. Then, when I want to stick a hook on, all I do is thread the end of the loop through the eye and bring it back over the hook. Bingo, hook on. Then just reverse the process when i'm done. I only do that when i'm targeting smaller fish, I always tie terminal tackle right on the leader with larger fish.
