Well got home for our Men's Advance up in Challis. It was a very blessed time the topic being Obedience. Each of the speakers hit home with very deep heart filled issues in the Christian mans life. It was awsome!
A good friend & I stopped at Mackay Res for a couple hrs Friday on the way to Challis. It was an absolutely beautiful day! No breeze and the sun was a shinning. Talked with a father and son who had limited out on kokanee and asked the leading questions of color , depth, and where to go.
There were ice huts there and thats where they said to go. It was about 30' and they said about 3-5 cranks off the bottom with red &white or pink with a meal worm or even a part of a worm. Augered 3 holes and droped a silver speckled body/pink fingered tube with a meal worm down and set up my next hole with a new holographic spinner and doctored shoepeg corn and the fishfinder.
Ineed to thank the guys that helped with how to use the bottomline sidefinder. After turning off the fish alrm and adjusting the gain (sensitivity) I could see my jig on the screen and then I saw the fish come in above my jig, reeled up and one took the corn. Strike one. Then my other pole started dancing and a koke was on the ice. We've been fishin for 15 min. God is sooooo good!
Well we needed to stop at 4 to get to Living Waters, where we were staying. Things were hot. The fish alrms all around us were singing all the time. The ice was about 24" and was crackin right under us. My friend Scott was ready to go in with the fitst crack, he was kneeling down and it right up his knee.
We only caught the one but I must have had 20 hits. I think the next size smaller jig might of helped there.
On a serious side, when we got there we come to find out that a guy got cuaght up in his auger and cut his leg up bad, there was quit a blood trail coming off. He was in the car latter when they came back for his gear so he was stichted up and didn't have to stay in the hospital. Praise God he was right there where everyone was and there was lots of help to get him off, cause there was lots of blood! Don't know how it happened but make sure your beiing carefull out there!
Had a great weekend, only caught one but heard storiess of many being caught and everyone we talked with had their limit. Was told theres about 3-4 more good weeks of koke fishin then it will slow down.
