There is a difference in the Pacific Halibut and the California Halibut.
This summer alone, my son and I caught only 42 (legal size)California Halibut. The weights varied from 30 to 54 lbs.
My son had the 54 lb which was only 2 lbs shy of the state record.
The typical Pacific Halibut which are most common in Alaska, are the ones that tip the scales at over 300 lbs. That is alot of table fare.[shocked]
