when I was little I used to have that problem really bad and here are the two best things I have found. One is vaseline on a bandaide. It helps the skin get enough moisture and it protects the sores. The second and this may sound wierd, but works like a charm (although it stings just a little). IF you have a split that keeps opening up squirt some superglue in there and hold it together. Superglue was invented to hold skin together in the first place and it works like a charm. the splits don't open up, and the superglue forms a protective layer and falls off as the split heals,
