Okay one dozen size 20 zebra midges down, two more dozen to go. The zebra midge is a variant that seems to work well in both the weber and the ogden. I don't know if the browns focus on red more, but I seem to catch more with red. It uses a gunmetal green bead for the head, black thread body and fine red hotwire wrap for the abdomen on a Diiatchi Size 20 scud hook. I usually put this fly as the top in a tandem rig.
Next, size 16 hotwire midge. Yea, 16 is large, but this fly rocks on the Ogden especially down by the parkway, but I have caught fish everywhere with it in winter. It is a size 16 Diiatchi scud hook, two strands of hotwire (red and copper) wound up to a peacock herl fronted with a bright silver bead head. These should be done tonight.
Lastly the Midge Emerger of Some Sort (MESS fly I guess I'll call it). I have two done, this is a size 20 with a peacock herl body, white biot wing and black hackle wound once or twice. Very nice fished in or just under the film. I hope to be done with these next Monday.
