You need to see what's happened below Piute Res...

Liprippa, what you heard is BS. It is absolutely untrue. In fact, when I helped the DWR gillnet Koosharem this past spring they were very pleased with the fact that they found more trout in Koosharem than what they had EVER seen. I know for a fact that they would not want this reservoir dry. Also, Koosharem is not going to be drained dry this year...but, like every other year, the water users pull it way down and it becomes little more than a mudpuddle.

Perhaps the biggest reason the DWR might be against a regulation change on this reservoir coincides with the fact that the reservoir is drawn so low each fall--How can they possibly stockpile large trout in such poor water quality and habitat? Right now the reservoir is its typical fall state--chub water. In fact, last fall was about the only year in the past five that the reservoir had any amount of water in the past five. IF the DWR had a conservation pool or some amount of water rights, special regulations would be a good option. As it is, however, fish would be wasted each fall when water temps, levels, and quality declines to the point that fish start to die.
