I agree with you dave, I think all the mumbo jumbo with hook color is more to catch the angler than the fish.
Lets not loose focus on what REALLY catches fish:
proper lure choice based on local forage, size and color
presentation
and overall luck
Without those three key elements, all the different color hooks in the world won't catch you any fish. Keep in mind also, what did anglers do before different color hooks came out?
One thing I will say about some of the unique colors is it makes it easier to see to tie the line to them. My eyes are getting worse with each year, and it's really easy to thread the line on a chartrues or red hook. I buy them just for that purpose, and that purpose alone.[cool]
