You know, back in the day, even if you didn't pay but 40 bucks for a Penn reel, you still got the same quality. For instance, the old red faced Penn 9 was just as strong as anything else you could buy, and cheap to boot. Steel gears and all. They were slow and dogish, but none the less a beast. I miss the quality of the "Old" reels of years back. They were heavy and slow, but man were they tough; and cheap to buy too.
