My vary fist fishing trip left me epty handed, I did get a black eye for my efforts....[pirate] That did not stop me from wanting to go out on my next trip, Where I caught my first blue gill, and two more after that....
my dad caught two and my little brother caught two.... between the three of us we had enough gills for a fish fry for one.... Nope, It would be years later before I taisted my first gill and become hooked for life....
I was this many IIII back then....
I was offered a taist, but mom said to watch out for bones, so I steered clear of them.
back in the day, cleaning fish ment scaling them, cutting thier heads off, then dipping them in corn flower and frying them. Yep! they were full of bones... NO BONES in my gills today [
