Under normal circumstances Tazers are a safe method of incapacitating a violator. Newspapers often have headlines like 'Man dies after being tazed' but usually if you read on there are several other factors at work like intoxication, poor health, and positional esphixia. If tazers were lethal, police agencies would not be tazing their own Officers as part of the certification course. I agree that victims rights are often overlooked or sacraficed and as a correctional officer I deal with these violators on a daily basis. They often think of no one but themselves and will say or do anything to avoid jailtime. Attorneys and litigators are as much to blame. They often build their fortunes and reputations by going after these companies that make products that police use as well as going after the Officers themselves. Law Enforcement these days is 50% doing the job and 50% keeping yourself out of trouble.
