large mouth small mouth and rock bass are only as good as the water they come out of.
small mouth being the cleanest of the three because they prefer cleaner cooler water.
if the water is the least bit muddy the bass can not release their sweat properly, no they dont sweat in the way we do, the do excreat fluids from their skins, thay is why they are slimy when you handle them.
there is no doubt there are a lot of people who poach fish. I am sure there is ileagle selling of the fish as well. but I havent heard tell of any thing like that on this forum. True people will catch them out of season, that cant be helped, bass will hit most any thing with a hook on it.... That is why we have multi million dollars worth of tournies every year.
I particulary dont care for the taist of summer bass, but early season bass closer to the minnimum size are the best eating or december bass caught though the ice is pretty good too. well lets just say they are similar to cod during these periods.
I agree, we all have our favorite fish and I would much prefer gills perch and walleye over bass any day of the week.
