Boy, BLM, your suggestion is probably one of the best I've heard in a long time. I've always kicked myself that I haven't made it to the RAC meetings I've wanted to attend, yet now that I think about it, the RAC meetings are very counter-productive when compared to how Web sites and the Internet could be used to assess greater public opinion.
Plus, it seems like all the RAC meetings are anymore are forums for the outfitters and organizations like Sportsmen for Fish and Wildlife (with their very deep pockets) to "lobby" for what best suits their needs.
Rather than have RAC meetings, the UDWR should create forums on its Web site that outline proposals; they could then offer polls and questions for the general Utah public to answer, and then they could organize poll numbers and categorize responses to help them formulate decisions.
Then, ultimately, they could post what the public responses have been on certain issues, and, if needed, another round of voting and discussion could result until final plans and decisions were reached.
I hope the UDWR reads this and takes note. Again, BLM, great suggestion.
