Rod to match new reel?
#3
Thanks,
There is a local source for Star Rods, but they don't stock many.
I found a Daiwa Sealine 11' 3" that looks like it will do the trick, the only thing heavier in rating looks to be a Tica UEHA933502S but I was afraid that that might be too heavy. The Daiwa is rated at 8 oz but feels heavier. They make a newer version in a 10oz rating but it feels like the same blank.
I think I'll give this a try for now, if not, the price is real right. If it's not enough, I think I would go to either a Tica or Okuma.
I like the idea of a Daiwa/Daiwa combo, and I have used these rods before, my Emblem reels are on this same series.
This rod feels light, casts terrific and is well balanced with the Grand Wave 5000BR. I hope to give it a try soon. If it's not heavy enough, I'll just move it down the line to another reel. I can always upgrade one of my other reels to a newer rod.
