best way to catch carps?!

i fished alittle pond in adrian that i just found... and when i was there i was using some berkley gulp! earthworms and i was getting bites all day from the carp and other little fish. but i heard throw bread to attract them and then putting a big ball of bread on your hook. is there other ways to catch carp than with bread?!
