That's a nasty red dots! I never had one like that. I just kinda don't dip in those waters that look too cloudy. I didn't go in with the tube using bathing suits, I left on the jeans, socks and gymshoes...Maybe that helps keeping off those hidden bugs? I did postion myself in the weeds to keep from drifting around too much and cast out the edges to catch bass. Maybe I was nuts to be doing that those days?
Now everyone talks about the 409 but I'm wondering if the tubes/waders was left out in the sun to dry is that enf to kill off the bugs? As one says "freezing" for 24 hours, he seems right those bugs don't die around here in the midwest...
I sent out one:
[#0000bf]""Probably a question to submit to your local health department or the
Illinois Department of Public Health. IDPH does beach advisories
regarding bacteria. What is commonly called swimmer's itch is often
linked to a parasite found in freshwater lakes where aquatic birds are
found. Most of us who fish use waders - probably a good idea if you're
spending any length of time in the water.

Hello I do some tube fishing without waders and heard someone said
watch out
for those ""Swimmer's Itch"". Do we have anything to worry about? Which
lakes in Illinois has those and how do we spot them? I go to Maziona
lakes pretty
much for tube fishing.
Your help would be greatly helpful to us tubers.
Thank you, Ralph Morris ""[/#0000bf]
