[cool][#0000ff]Some lakes do not post or publish that there is a potential for swimmers' itch. On those lakes the word just kinda spreads among the local community. It is considered an initiation rite for someone to go swimming or tubing without protection or to not dry off properly...and then to get "the itch". Good laugh for everybody.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Wherever a lake is managed by any city or county, or a private enterprise, you will usually see signs at access points, warning the public of the problem. But, that still doesn't keep everybody from getting exposed. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Here in Utah, one of the infected lakes is Mantua Reservoir. It is a small lake maintained by the city as a water source. It does not seem to be quite as bad as Pelican Lake, which is on BLM land, way out in the boondocks. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Mantua has signs posted, advising that people do not swim in it. Still, on any given summer day, you will see hordes of swimmers, water skiers and PWC folks splashing around in the water. Not me. I wear waders on that lake, even on the hottest days.[/#0000ff]
