Well in all fairness, your whole argument is flawed as well…
And by the way, I love how you started an earlier post with:
“[#808000]I'm not going to get sucked into the name calling finger pointing part of this post, this has nothing to do with religion or even Utah per se... but..…”[/#808000]
[#808000] [/#808000]
And then ended the very same post with:

“[#808000]In the end I find it those who squeal the loudest about this kind of thing (sympathize with the pot smokers) are usually the same ones who are also doing it.”[/#808000]
[#808000] [/#808000]
Hmmm… If that’s not finger pointing then I don’t know what is.
I also liked the very next post:

“Pretty easy to spot the Potheads in this group! I hope neither of you have children that you can pass your enlightened wisdom along to.”

Kind of goes along with that famous line of thinking that if you don’t agree with what we’re doing in Iraq, or you don’t want your telephone calls spied on with no warrant, then you hate America and support terrorism.
No... Thank you for the accusation, I don’t smoke pot.
But I have many friends that do to this day. Most own houses, cars, boats, etc. Have careers and wives and children and pay their taxes. I can assure you that they have never stolen anything from your car or garage. And a few probably make a lot more money than most of you. (Certainly more than me)
These are normal, happy people. No more trying to “fill a void in their life” anymore than the next guy.
And what does that even mean really ?
Ever known someone who is overly obsessive about exercise or cleaning ?
Ever met an artist or musician or writer who spend hours trying to perfect something that few others will ever notice ?
Ever met a Workaholic ?
Ever met a really obnoxious x-smoker ?
Ever met a born again Christian ?
EVER KNOWN SOMEONE WHO ESCAPES THE MONOTINY OF DAILY LIFE BY DOING WAY, WAY, WAY TOO MUCH FISHING ??? (All of us !!!)
In short EVERYONE, and I mean EVERYONE uses SOMETHING to alter their mind or state of being.
Who are you to judge what is right or wrong ? Healthy or unhealthy ? Good or bad ?
Where you argument is truly flawed is if something is “prescribed” and taken in proper amounts then its ok.
There’s an old saying in Washington D.C., and it applies pretty well elsewhere too - “If you want to know the truth about something, follow the money”
Well marijuana IS being prescribed and decriminalized in several states, and you know who spends the big bucks buying senators and congressmen who want to keep it illegal ? Phizer, Bristol-Meyers-Squib, and the other big pharmaceutical companies.
Have no misconceptions, they WANT you doped up, just not on something you can grow in your back yard.
Sorry, but if something is illegal, it is illegal but not necessarily wrong. (Don’t some of you think that while obviously illegal and unconstitutional, Gorge W’s domestic spying is a great deal for America ?)
At different times in this country it has been legal to own people and illegal to take a drink.
And what about if it starts to hit a bit closer to home for you ?
What if PETA gained enough pull to have very restrictive laws on hunting and fishing, and even got Carp listed as a protected species ?
Would that be it for you ? Sell the boat and all the rods ? Hang up the bow and sell all of the guns ?
After all it would be unpatriotic and un American too break the law…
Of course that’s just my opinion… I could be wrong !!!
By the way, you have stated several times in your posts that you have spent hundreds of hours studying the affects that drugs have on the body and mind...
Have you ever actually smoked pot or tried any other drug ?
