What kind of line do you like?
#29
For jigging/flat line trolling on Bear Lake I use original Spiderwire braid (30lb test strength and 6lb diameter) with a 4' P-Line leader (12lb test) using baitcaster reels. For downrigging I use monofilament, more specifically, Yo-Zuri co-polymer (i.e. low stretch) 10lb test. For other water bodies, I use spinning gear with a wide variety of line brands, but I stick with main-brand names but I admit I buy whatever I find on sale. Old Coot fishes a lot like myself on Bear Lake. I have been using Spider Wire braid since 1993 for jigging and I will never go back to anything else. The braids have the sensitivity in the deep water that is impossible to get with monofilament. You just got to train yourself on the hook sets not to jerk as hard as you do with monofilament or your rip the hooks out of the fish's mouth. Other than that, you simply can't beat braids for deep jigging.
