I use 5'6" Penn Mariner Standup rods, granted I have an experiance wheelman, if not, I have longer standup rods that I use. I also use 80lb test, however, if i'm feeling savvy that day I have a 6/0 spooled with 40.(I like sport[cool])
I like to anchor close to the reefs, especially right before a tide change. I'll toss a couple blocks of pre-made chum in a "holy" bucket and toss it out. I also like to get a nice slick started using an I.V. dripper and menhaden oil. Every now and then i'll chop up a little vollenteer and toss in behing the boat, to give the on comers something to taste along the way to the boat.
My prefered baits really depend on the availiblity. I like sting ray wings because they are so bloody, butt barracuda or mackeral is nice and oilly.
