I am one of those type of Anglers. I have enjoyed shark fishing for many years.
They do take some patience to catch. Then the skill of the angler and crew together, make it all happen.
My chum of choice would have to be freshly ground Tuna, Bonito, Mackerel and cows guts mixed with cows blood slowly dispersed over the open ocean.
My rig of choice is a 7', 50-100lb tuna rod, 80lb mono with a 230lb, 10' long multistrand steel leader tipped with a 16/0 mustad 9175 hook or a 9165 Octopus hook. Bait of choice is a nice whole bleeding chunk of fresh Bonito.
Less chumming is needed when I can spot a pod of Orcas beeting up on some seals. We will slip our boat in after the volley ball(seal) game is over.
I hooked up on a Great White this way but only had it at deep color before it bit through my steel cable like it was 2lb test.[pirate]
