I started using a slingblade about 2 years ago on Strawberry, but don't target the kokes because I don't know enough about them. I have caught only one, and it was on the slingblade. What a fighter! I have caught a ton of cutthroat on the thing, though.
As far as rigging, I just have a swivel on my line and attach it to the top of the slingblade. Follow the slingblade with the koka-nut, which is usually displayed right next to the slingblade. The little hook setup in the kokanut seems to really attract the fish. I also put a piece of worm on the hooks (2) in the kokanut to make it tasty.
The one problem I have had is that the hooks used in the kokanut are more fragile than other hooks I use. With trout, those hooks tend to break after getting them out of the jaws of 2-3 fish, where other hooks will usually last at least twice as long, even if I'm manhandling them with the pliers.
Overall a great little lure, though, and doesn't bring with it the drag of the pop gear.
