If you are using Windows XP, then it comes with a free (but very simple) program to create and edit pictures, called Microsoft Paint.
To run it, just click on your start menu, then click on Programs, then Accessories, then Paint. It will open up Paint with no picture. To edit one of your pictures, click File, then click Open.
Find your picture, then Click Open.
Once your picture is open in paint, click on Image(in the menu), then click on Stretch/skew. From there, in the horizontal and vertical text boxes, type in a number, which represents a percentage (like 50 to make your picture 50% smaller). Then click Ok.
CLick File, then SaveAs. Then choose a new file name and click Save. (Note: if you just choose Save, instead of SaveAs, then it will overwrite your original file. You probably want to keep both.)
Now, the new file will be a jpeg file that is WAY smaller in size then the original and you can upload it to BFT.
