As some of you probably know, in So Cal, we don't leave much chance for cobwebs on the gear.
However I do keep tackle kits around for different lakes and rivers that I fish. Furthermore I do keep other kits handy based on the Saltwater species that I will target by location of where I am going to fish.
Some of those kits are not used all year round and some are. My basic preparation includes and inventory and restocking of each kit based on what terminal tackle may have found it's way into rocks, docks, piers, and branches as well as river bottoms.
Any hook that has the slightest sign of rust on it gets tossed out. All of my lures will get a resharpening of the hooks on them or a replacement hook.
Most of my freshwater reels will get respooled, my saltwater reels are constantly respooled anyways. I will generally check and do maintenance to the spectra on my spools as well as lube all my reels on an as needed basis.[cool]
