Hi Dave,
Actually we spent quite a few hours over the weekend tinkering with it. The fabric work is going slow but thats expected due to the fact its a custom fit and those take time. We're 95% finished so in a few days I should be able to post a picture of the completed unit.
Duct tape? Dave you've been watching far to many Red & Green shows and hanging around Possum Lodge far to much. Just kidding!,lol..
Sounds like that unit you got from your neigbor might be what the doc ordered. Keeping ones butt cheeks out of the wind is high on my list too while setting on the cap,lol.. Whats more, we're often ice fishing at around 8000' (or higher) altitude so it tend to be a tad nippy. The Res we've been hitting the past couple of weeks is 9015' ..
The deal was, we look at what the market has to offer and like some of features they had. What we didnt care for about the flip tops we seen was the fact none of them close up tight for transport other than a fabric cover, so, we put the thinking caps on and got buzy.
My Lazer is a 10" Power. The one on the ice the other day was actually my brother's 6" hand auger.
Besides the new shanty, when its time to travel the cap, I'll pull atleast one sled behind it, probably two.. But yes the auger or a couple coolers can ride on top of the shanty. Like I said, we tend to do a few over nighters on the ice during the season so its a must to have heat and few kitchen comforts..
No, none of the above, but I have been involved in the construction field for 25+ years,lol.. I ran a Roofing company and I also I like to tinker from time to time so slapping the hardwear together came natural I suppose. The sewing end of it on the other hand, Man! I cant imagine anyone wanting to do that for a living,,,or even as a hobby! lol!!!
