To Smelly Jelly, or not to Smelly Jelly

Crawdad salt and Herring salt are good choices in Smelly Jelly. I prefer the small jars because the jelly seems to stay on longer than the liquids. I just use my fingers (rub on the lure where you want them to bite it and rub any extra on the leader) and then wash my hands off in the water and dry with a towel. I know some anglers put some in a plastic sandwich bag and put their jigs in the bag. Probably a better approach than mine.

Last Saturday we caught them on every color of jig that we tried (rainbow, white, crawdad, chartreuse, and black). The go-to color lately seems to be white.
