To Smelly Jelly, or not to Smelly Jelly
#1
I guess I'm looking for a little Smelly Jelly 101. I've read some of your reports and I have a few questions about this stuff--and all attractants, really.

I read some strings about this from 2002 (found here, another found here) that seemed to express, among other things, that they can be used to grease up a lure, cover human scent, help keep fish "hanging on" longer, or attract them to your lure.

For only $4.99 I figure I may give it a go, so I wanted to ask your specific advice.

I will be fishing this Saturday morning at Strawberry, targeting the trout from shore. I'll probably use a variety of tube jigs to see what color they're after (input here is welcome, too!) and wanted to give the old Jelly or other attractant a try. I may try lures as well if they won't go after the jigs.

What:
a) brand do you recommend?
b)
flavor do you recommend?
c)
application method do you recommend?

Any other tips for a guy unfamiliar with the stinky juices would be appreciated. I'm not really sure it does anything (opinion on that varies wildly) and wanted to see for myself.

Realizing this may be like asking, "what's your favorite TV show?" I await your many responses.
