Movie Reveiws
#29
I heard a reveiw on that same move earlier this week over the radio. they said the same thing as you.

they stated the producers had some help from real sientest who have studied these situations. I have a friend living down is bay st louis, he headed for high ground when they said evacuate, aperently he didnt go high enuff, where he went he had to climb twenty feet up a tree to keep from being washed away by the river. needles to say he lost every thing, his house is now a mud puddle. his motor home was washed down a hill though the woods. he had to walk 20 miles back to town only to find nothing left standing.

next time I see him I will tease him about being a tree hugger, (only a friend of 40 years can get away with that...) I am truly amazed he survived through the storm and then the flood waters then the lack of emergency povisions food and water...

as for beleiving what the future predicts by movies, that depends on who the directors are seeking technical advice from.....

did you see the earth quake movie about the san andraius fault? the one where they have to set off a nucular bomb to try to save part of california from sinking? That was a hair raising movie as well. I dont know how much of that is real but the devistation it shows is over whelming.

there has been a couple of asteroid movies with dramatic events as well. but that one I dont think they realy show every thing that would happen. the one that was acused for the extinction of the dinasaur hit in the golf of mexico was only a 6 mile across piece of rock. how siencetest got that measurment is beond me. it aperently caused the first ice age the planet ever saw.

which brings to mind, you remember that frozen mamoth eliphant they found in a glasure in france or itialy? it was found standing up which tells of snow falls that engulfed a 20+ foot high animal over night. emagine that movie, colorado saw a 10 foot drop in a couple days, on some areas they saw a 5-6 foot over night drop... I luv lucy did a take on that one. going to sleep one night and waking up to find the cabin with snow over the roof. sounds unbeleivable for people born in the late 70's But I have seen a storm that dropped 5 feet of snow just a mile from my house and the drifts blew up to 12 feet over top of the road. It reminded me of driving though the city of detroit with out any side areas to pull over... one farm house actualy had snow up to the second story window....

the movies of today have some eliment of truth to them, that is what makes them sell, just a couple decades ago a plauseable movie was enuff to scare the living daylights out of you, but the truth is far stranger far more unprodictable and by far more realisticly scary than what ever monster movie you can conjure....

the real suprize is that no one listens to the movies that tells of doom and gloom. they just pray it never happens rather faceing the fact that for sure one day it will and we wont be prepaired. that is except for the avalanch movies. they see avalanches every year so they know those movies tell of avoidable situations that can and are delt with around the world every year.

I havent seen the aftermath movie but will one day when I am not so ticked off about our level of unprepairedness....
