Guys, let's not confuse the war in Iraq with the war on terror. Those are two very different things. Saddam did not have anything to do with Sept. 11, although he was probably laughing about it in his palace when he found out about it. If you read up on it, you'd find that Saddam and Osama did not even like each other back then. Does anyone know what nationality most of the hijackers that morning on Sept. 11, 2001 were? Most of them were from SAUDI ARABIA! In fact, Osama himself was born in Saudi Arabia. Now, I'm not saying that Saudi Arabia is our enemy, they are a key ally in the Gulf area. However, obviously not all of their citizens agree with their government's association with ours. Al Queada didn't even have much if any presence in Iraq before the war, but you can believe they are there now -- penetrating from the now porous borders. Militants pour in from Syria and other areas full of U.S. haters and attack our troops and Iraqi police.
This attack on Iraq had little to do with actual terrorism and more to do with needing someone to target and blame that would make a good scapegoat, not to mention a source of oil $$$ for dubbaya and the other oil millionaires. Let's face it people, we, the American public, were LIED TO by our leaders about the reasons for the Iraq war. No weapons of mass destruction were found. The CIA warned Bush that they did not have any good intelligence indicating that there were any before the war. The source for that bad information was Chalabi, who was living in the United States, an exiled Iraqi who wanted to oust Saddam and become president himself. He had alterior motives and provided bogus info. that even the CIA did not believe was accurate at the time. Bush ignored all of this and went to war with them anyway.
Notice now, the talk is all about the freedom of the Iraqis, not WMDs. We originall went to war over WMDs, not freedom of the Iraqi people. Freedom of the Iraqi people is a great thing, and it's noble that our wonderful troops are giving their lives for that freedom now, but dang a lot of US troops and Iraqi citizens have died because of this. There could have been other ways...
We should all support our brave troops, but that doesn't mean we have to support the president who put them in harms way.
Ok, I'll get off my soapbox now.
