[#505000]I know this thread is old but I have been incredibly busy the last few days and haven't had a chance to post much at all. In the spirit of brotherly love I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume ALL BFT members who take their dogs fishing are responsible dog owners considerate of others. [/#505000]

[#505000]I understand your concerns Leaky, but at the same time I very much applaud leash laws. I was once a dog owner and liked to take my friend with me when I went places too. However much to my dismay I developed some nasty dog allergies in my early 20's and haven't been able to own or even pet a dog since. I can't even spend much time in a home that has had dogs in it for very long before the effects of the allergy kick in.[/#505000]
[#505000][/#505000]
[#505000]That said it now annoys me when some leashless "friendly dog who would never hurt a fly and just wants to come say hi" starts running unrestrained around any area I am in. About [/#505000]
[#505000]%30 of the time the dog comes over and wants to lick a hand, be pet, or in a few instances want to jump up on me. After having had the allerieges for 3 years I got wise to how this works and over the last several years make it clear to the dog owner right away to come grab his/her dog. [/#505000]
[#505000][/#505000]
[#505000]I have seen a comment on here about the few ruining it for the many. Sadly in my experience it has been the many irresponsible dog owners ruining it for the few responsible dog owners. I wonder if any of these irresponsible dog owners realize that if their friendly dog just checking things out makes contact with me, my trip will be ruined. Nothing terrible like my throat swelling up and me killing over dead, but my eyes will begin to water and itch, my sinuses will plug up. My throat and mouth will begin to itch horribly, and exposed skin that came in contacted with the dog will also itch horribly. In short order I will be completely miserable and my trip will have been ruined. Likely I'll have to leave even if I don't want to. [/#505000]
[#505000][/#505000]
[#505000]Because of the many bad experiences I have had to endure, which are for the most part beyond my control because of my allergies, leashless dogs, and owners who think it's ok to let their dogs run and visit everyone I am a BIG BIG fan of leash laws.[/#505000]
[#505000][/#505000]
[#505000]I won't get started on dog poo in parks (left in playgrounds, trails, and frankly anywhere it hasn't been "collected"), or the liability if someone got bit or someone with alergies decided to sue. (which I wouldn't, but I'm not the only person allergic to dogs).[/#505000]
