Jordanelle, 8/4 - Another great fishing spot off limits
#13
Wanna know what's REALLY Disgusting Leaky?

You can't even have a dog in your boat at deer creek.

I've got a dog named "blue" that i love just as much as you seem to love your sparkyWink - Me and my dad used to fish Deer Creek every summer, multiple times... Gotta love those big deer creek perch=D

Well anyways, one day we were fishing off of the island (in our boat) for some of those massive DC perch... A ranger boat pulled up and told us that we had to either get rid of the dog, or get off the water. Dogs are not allowed anywhere around Deer Creek. Astonished my father asked the ranger what the reason for that was... He said that the lake was used for water in the salt lake valley, and they don't want dogs dirtying it.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First of all, I realize that the sign posted at the entrance of the park says no dogs allowed. Every time we entered my dad asked the lady working the booth, if it was okay if our dog came along - as long as she never touched the park grounds with her four paws. (We lift her from the car into the boat when launching) Blue never once layed a single foot on the deer creek park. (The people working the booth never told us that dogs were also outlawed on the water, in boats - that might have been helpful) We told the ranger this, and he said they were wrong - dogs are not allowed anywhere on deer creek - including on your very own BOAT.

Second, my father was certainly going to do as he was told - he planned on leaving, but he was simply astonished, so he asked the ranger some questions. He asked, why isnt MY dog allowed on MY boat? He said thats just how it works. My dad then told him our dog never touched the park, she went directly from the truck to the boat ( we even carried her!!!)

After a few more questions he finally said that dogs are not allowed, becuase the lake is used for drinking water for some cities in utah. He then said dogs would dirty up the water and could cause some health problems for drinking water.

All i could do is laugh, like boat oil, gasoline, trash, animal poop, people, and everything else that ends up in a lake isn't harmful? How is a dog more harmful than that? I mean come on... That's just rediculous. Not to mention that lakes that are used for drinking purposes always have purifying stations to cleanse the water.

My dad knew this was wrong and senseless, so he contacted the Utah game and fish - They said that was the law, and they had no intentions of changing it.

How lame is that? (sorry about the length, felt like ranting)
