I saw you there. I almost came over and talked to you but didn't want to disturb your spot. I was in the white aluminum boat that came straight across from the ramp about noon. I fished in that area a while and couldn't get a bite. Worked my way off toward the inlet. After fishing for a couple of hours and not getting anything I found an area where I was getting a lot of bites but still couldn't hook anything. I figured it was probably perch and it was time to catch dinner. I put on a nightcrawler. Yup, I started catching perch. They are a lot harder to find this year than last. While fishing for perch I caught a lot of big chubs. After catching a few perch and chubs I hooked into something that felt like it must be a world record chub but it turned out to be an 18",3# smallmouth. I continued to fish that same little spot for a while and hooked into another one. As I got it up to the boat it looked just a little bigger than the last one. I reached out to net him and he decided that the fun was over and unhooked himself. Later, I moved and landed a 19", 4# smallmouth. They were not to big by Jordanelle standards but they are the three biggest smallmouth that I have caught. So, I'm not complaining.
