Whoa baby... When did this post turn sour ?
I've been in Price for 4 days and I was really surprised to see this post still near the top.
Let me say for the record that I was saying that fishing with Jim was intense and I could see how some people could find it not so fun. I thrive on that kind of fishing and I would expect nothing less than for Jim to chew my butt if I'm doing something wrong. As has been stated in a few of these threads, presentation is everything when fishing for large lakers. He CAN NOT be casual about the way you fish. If he were, you would'nt catch anything !
I have a great time fishing with Jim. I have been on his boat 3 times and have learned a tremendous amount about jigging for Macs. And by the way what first convinced me to book a trip with him is one day I was out fishing on my own for 3 hrs with nary a bite. Then up pulls Jim not 30 feet from where I was. His clients nailed 3 over 20 lbs. in about 15 minutes and then off they went.
I was on the phone the next day...
It is quite obvious that there is something personal going on between Fishley(Ash) and Jim. I'm quite sure that there are circumstances that we dont know about (or need to know about) behind that. Whatever. People have their things with other people.
To be perfectly honest. I cant stand most people ! I'm quite sure that I would hate most of you if I took the time to get to know you, which I never will...[
] Thats one of the reasons I take my boat out of the city and to places like the Gorge, to get away from people.
I dont know Ashley personally, but I dont think he's a bad guy because he dose'nt like Jim. (though that is a bit of a girly name eh ?) Jim probably dose'nt like him either, and its all good...
For what its worth, I find Jim to be a personal and funny guy and I consider him a friend. If he's cursing you, you're doing something wrong.
But like him or not, I have taken several trips with other guides, and for my money Jim is the best guide at Flaming Gorge hands down.
Book a trip on his boat and you will have chances at big lakers and learn alot.
And after you do, give some props and respect to those of us like Fishley, Gofish, Myself, and others who have spent an incredible amount of time and money to learn how to fish for those Macks...
