Eating Utah Lake Fish...
#29
Mrs. Ocean
Your welcome..
But like all good things their probably best taken in moderation because, as has been stated, certain heavy metals were introduced into the waters of Utah lake by way of Geneva. I will however add that most of those exact same heavy metals can be found in all of our waters ways due to nature leaching factors from the surrounding mountains.
A biological filtering system of any body of water works in the same manner in witch it operates in a home aquarium. It merely neutralizes the nature biological waste from life forms such as fish, human, the farmers goat, etc... but it does not remove pollutant such as heavy metals, etc...
I would never purposely tell anyone to risk eating some they feel is suspect. As with all things the choice must be yours alone as to whether you eat the fishies from Uah lake. What I will say is I have NO problem doing so as apparently is the case for many of us. If the fish of Utah Lake are slightly more polluted and perhaps suffer more brain damage than those found at say Willard Bay, so be it. Maybe that explain why I have a pretty fair catch rate at Utah lake. But regardless, I plan to keep eatin' those tasty critters![Wink]
