Help: Sonar for my boat.
#11
Paul:

Mounting a transducer on a bow mount electric motor is easy unless you have a Min Kita powerdrive/autopilot type without the built in universal transducer. You have to feed the transducer cable through the coiled wire and operation is a pain, requiring constant fussing with the transducer cable. I once ripped the the cable out of a transducer in a wind fueled emergency shoreline avoidance maneuver. So, the solution is to buy a new Min Kota motor with the built in universal sonar, or, do like I do and foresake the bow mounted transducer.

The shoot through the hull alumaducer sounds like a great idea, but it appears the 'ducer needs to be mounted in a flat part of the boat in the stern. Sonar on the bow should be shooting from that end of the boat if you ask me.
