Rod brands
#3
It depends on what kind of fishing i'm doing as to what brand of rod I use. I feel different companies are better at making different types of rods for different types of fishing. I'd say most of my rods are ugly stix's by Shakespear. Though Shakespear really isn't a good REEL company, thier rods are superior to most other brands. I use them for inshore saltwater fishing for Flounder, Red Drum, Sheepshead, Black Drum, and just about anything else. You slap a Abu Garcia 7000 on a 6' ugly stix, and there isn't much that outfit isn't good for. Infact, i've 4 of them, and that's all I use. I've caught everything from 7 pound flounder to 45 pound king mackeral on my outfits. Shakespear makes a type of ugly stix called an "intercoastal," and it is the I CHING of all. That is the type of Ugly Stix that I have on my 7000's. If you're Offshore fishing for big game, i'd say Penn stand-up rods are hard to beat for the money. And Quantum makes kick-ass ultra lights. So............ Offshore fishing would be Penn rods hands down, which makes 100% of my offshore tackle. Ugly stix's make about 75% of my inshore saltwater/catfishing tackle(however the ugly stix are all I use now), and Quantum makes up my ultra light which is a 100% of my light tackle equipment. And berkley is the only line I use, except for stren on my light tackle(which I haven't been too happy with the stren here lately)
