true, in our area waters down to 25-30 feet the cams work well. what we found was the the deeper we went the shorter our range of vision. when we got to 40 feet we could only see about 2-3 feet from the cam even with the lights on.
they have limitations in that respect, you could be setting 5 feet away from the biggest trout hole you ever saw and you would never know it.
the kids absolutly love it! they get to see the fish on the tv screen and they have cherie when they see the fish bite on a jig.
I dont own one my self, but do hope to ad one to my list of toys. there is nothing like seeing a big fish come though under your feet.
as for the guys fishing to deep, I think not, there are a number of fish that are target only at depts of 80 to 120 feet deep. how they can see the bait is beond me. I think at that depts it is more of a smell and taist thing. two deep fish that come to mind are walleye I have caught in depts of 40 feet and lake trout at 120 feet.
