I had a suprise day off and headed up to Scofield. Arrived at 10:00 AM to cold but otherwise excellent conditions. I fished near the dam. There is currently 4-5 inches of clear, solid ice at the location I was at. Little wind, and sunny skies. The fishing was excellent. A large number of the 6-10 inch fall planter bows were in the area and provided constant action the whole day. Mixed in with these were some bigger trout up to 17 inches and a couple of smallish cutts. I used mainly small worm peices on rat finkies and a flasher spoon. They weren't particularly fussy though. I ended up landing 7-8 of the larger 13-17 inch trout and an innumerable number of the small planters. There were a couple of guys where fuzzyfisher was yesterday, but no one by me. I left at 4 PM. A phenomenal way to kick off the ice season.[
