I love to fish Island Park thru the ice as well, but I usually have limited time as I am a wrestling coach which takes most of my Saturdays during January, and February. Last year I spent a lot of time up there during the Christmas break.
Ice fishing on Henrys Lake would probably fish out the lake in one or two seasons. The fish are mostly congregated in three or four areas and they would not be hard to find. These areas are near springs and could be dangerous for fishermen. Another reason is that Henrys Lake is managed as a "trophy fishery" hense the two fish limit. A couple of years ago, the Fish and Game department recommended extending the season from October 31 until November 30. Pressure from the sportsmen caused them to rethink that idea. But the Department went on record as not "setting regulations to insure the safety of the fishermen." Probably the best argument is that it is managed as a trophy fishery and most ice fishermen are "harvest oriented."
