FISHING: Fair
Owyhee River
Fair
Fishing is still slowing a little bit. The fish have spawning on their mid more than eating. There are still fish to be caught, I would just fish in the deeper holes and the faster runs. There are Baetis, Callibaetis, Mahogany Duns still hatching along with Caddis in the evenings and midges all the time. Be sure and watch for runs with bright gravel in them. These are redds, or the beds that the fish spawn in. The water will be dropped to about 30 cfs on October 15th. This will make it even tougher to find a spot to fish untilthe first of November so maybe give Silver Creek or the South Fork a try.
Flies: Beadhead Pheasant Tail, 16-20, Prince Nymphs, 16-20, Copper Johns, 16-18, PMD Emergers, 16-18, Callibaetis Emergers, 16-18, Baetis Hatchmatcher, 20, PMD Comparadun, 16-18, Olive Midges, 18-20, Black Midges, 18-20, Baetis Emergers, 18-20, Olive Emergers, 18-20, Parachute Callibaetis, 16-20, Mahogany Comparadun, 16-18, Crane Fly Skater, 8-10, Crane Fly Nymph, 8-10.
